Old stale bread = breakfast

That loaf I made a few days ago delivered a number of yummy slices. Breakfast toast, bread with dinner, croutons. And this morning - french toast. The remaining loaf was dry. I am not a fan of covering bread with plastic. I drape it with a cotton cloth. By this morning, it was dry. Perfect for french toast. One egg, milk, vanilla, orange zest, a bit of salt, whole milk. Whisk. Dunk and soak bread for a long time until it soaks up all of the custard. Brown in butter with a bit of canola oil, slowly. Get a browned crust. Smear with good jam. Eat.
